Nutrient-packed, ultra refreshing, thick and super creamy. Just a few things you can expect from this instant paleo and keto strawberry milkshake!
Paleo & Keto Strawberry Milkshake 🍓
i.e. A Nutrient-Bomb 💣
If you’re in need of a speedy (or even instant!) low carb and keto breakfast, this sugar free strawberry shake is it!
Like our much loved bulletproof chocolate shake and keto shamrock shake, this berry version is bound to have you swooning.
But I switched it up a bit, as avocados don’t quite work 100% with berries. So I add a couple tablespoons of chia seeds for super thick and creamy results (not to mention a lot of fiber!).
Chia seeds are awesome. These tiny Mexican guys pack a whole lot of protein and add a whole lot of oomph. They contain large amounts of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, plenty of high quality protein, and several essential minerals and antioxidants.
So if you’re on keto, and having trouble passing (you know, ), chia seeds are bound to become your new best friends.
The Deets
Using a high-speed blender here (think bullets) will ensure ultra creamy and smooth results, particularly since we’re working with chia seeds here. Just be sure to blend all the ingredients very well before you add the ice!
And if no bullet is on hand, you’ll want to use ground chia seeds to ensure properly thick and creamy results (rather than lumpy ones!).
Feel free to add anything from collagen peptides, MCT oil, hemp hearts, and pink Himalayan or flakey sea salt (seriously don’t skip, amps up the flavor a bunch!).
What do you guys add to your morning shakes?!
Breakfast Paleo & Keto Strawberry Milkshake
Ingredients
- 1/4-1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk or heavy cream, to taste
- 1-2 tablespoons chia seeds to taste
- 1/4-1/2 cup strawberries fresh or frozen
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch pink Himalayan salt or salt of choice
- 1-3 tablespoons erythritol or sweetener of choice, to taste
- 1/2 cup ice as needed
- water as needed
Optional add-ins
Instructions
- One of the great things about this milkshake is that you can customize it to your taste buds' desires! Want more thickness and fiber? Add more chia seeds! Keeping carbs to a minimum? Keep the strawberries and coconut milk in check! And feel free to add-in your collagen and MCT oil.
- Add coconut milk, chia seeds, strawberries, vanilla extract, salt, sweetener and add-ins of choice to a blender (bullets work best here!). Blend until creamy smooth, using a little water as needed.
- Add in ice and blend until thick and creamy. Do not over-blend, or you'll lose coldness. Enjoy right away!

Nutrition
Loved this inspiration for me to try…instead of Chia seeds to thicken, I used 1/4 tsp. xanthan gum into the blender with the 1/2 cup ice…super thick and creamy.
Fantastic! Light and refreshing and summery! Used 2 tbsp erythritol, which was plenty, and the upper amounts of everything else. Also added a scoop of collagen powder. It made enough for two, tall glasses for my daughter and I to share. It came out to 406 calories total with 28.8g fat, 25g carbs, 13.6g net carbs, and 16.2g protein. So half of that made a decent, keto-friendly serving to complement our lunch.
I really enjoyed this but the serving was very small, I think it was just half a cup
In my head Paola is one of my new BFFs! Another bomb recipe from Gnom- Gnom! I’m obsessed with the recipes on this site. I cannot believe I can eat like this and I’m nailing my weight loss goals!
For part of the sweetner, I boosted the strawberry flavor by using my strawberry flavored SweetLeaf Water Drops, making this shake even more bomb-delicious!
Could you make this using unsweetened almond milk or do you think that will turn out too thin??
Hi Paolo, does the chia seeds bring the net carbs down or is the carbs purely from the strawberries pls? Also, is the carbs value per shake base on 1/4 or 1/2 a cup of strawberries pls? Many thanks, looking forward to trying this for breakfast – so sick of eggs! 😷 x
Hello!
I use the ingredients indicated above but he erythritol and chia.
I made this strawberry shake and it was delicious. The only thing when I added the ingredients into my food app it is telling me that it is not 186 calories but 1,127 calories, 15.3 carbs, 108.6 fat and 1 protein.
I went to other sites to check and it is coming as 1,127 calories as well. I am doing Keto and that just messed up my Keto diet. :’(
I am giving 5 stars due to flavor but not for being a Keto recipe.
Hi Silvia! I’m not sure what ingredients you’re using, but it’s physically impossible for it to be 1k calories just think about the ingredients for a bit… 😉 xo
And yes I keep going back to how in the world the sites I am checking say it has that any carbs and calories with those ingredients.
Honestly I don’t know Silvia as I can’t see exactly what you’re inputing, but its honestly not over 1K- simply impossible with the ingredients used xo!
Did you use coconut cream instead of coconut milk? I’ve heard that can make a difference, not sure if it can make that much of one but worth a check.
Did you use coconut cream rather than coconut milk? That could seriously change the calorie and fat count.
Can you modify this and make it into strawberry ice cream?
Hi Cindy! I would fold in strawberry puree into the vanilla ice cream at the instead 😉 xo!
This was so good. I placed mine in the freezer and enjoyed it like ice cream.
Thank you…Thank you….Thank you! I just tried this shake and it is absolutely fabulous! I used frozen berries (rasberries, black berries and blueberries) instead of strawberries, and it turned out really good. Sweet enough that I didn’t add any sugar to it. I have recently cut out sugar and processed foods from my diet and was craving something sweet but healthy, and this hit the spot. Will definitely be keeping this recipe and trying a few others as well!
I just got home from the hospital for a total hip replacement. I needed something keto, cool, easy, that will help me poop. This was perfect!!! Thank you for a lovely recipe that hit all those sweet spots.
Hi Becca! I hope you’re on the mend from your hip replacement! Guess what though? I was also in the hospital last week and this was the first recipe I whipped up coming back home (great minds think alike lol!). xo and many healing wishes your way!
I can’t find the words. Delicious just doesn’t do it. So absolutely yummy! But I had it for dessert and now I understand why it should be for breakfast. It’s a meal!
That’s so awesome to hear Anna thank you! And YUP, it’s definitely very filling (chia seeds tend to expand!) xo
LEGIT AMAZING! I’d made your hot chocolate with chia seeds before so I didn’t hesitate to jump at this one. The trick is to really blend the chia seeds well in the bullet and it comes out so thick! It’s also very filling, so I can go well past lunch or fast after this one
So awesome to hear Mon thank you! Happy to see you’re still cooking and enjoying the recipes 😉
